An Interview with Centennial College Student Audrey Staples

Tell me a bit about yourself?

  • I’m an 18-year-old girl. I went to Villa Maria High school. I am a competitive sailor on the Quebec sailing team and I love to ski.

What do you like the best about being a student at Centennial College?

  • I like being a student at Centennial College because of the small classes and how the teachers work on knowing each and every student. You can also see a wellness coach if you are stressed or need help to organize yourself.

How has Centennial College helped you to make the transition from High School?

  • You’re not left alone. Centennial College staff members help you closely, so you don’t feel lost in the system.

What are ways that Centennial College helps you to prepare for your future?

  • They help you learn how to organise yourself and give you the confidence to achieve your goals.

What is your favorite subject, and describe what it is like to be in class?

  • My favorite subject is Social Psychology. In class, the teacher explains the material with power points and usually adds a movie or something to help us understand the material more in depth.

What has been your most favorite moment at Centennial College?

  • My favorite moments at Centennial College are being with all of my friends in the student lounge; talking and laughing all together.

If you could give future students one tip or piece of advice, what would it be?

  • One piece of advice I would give to future students is to not be afraid to seek help if things start to get difficult.
